TRENTON — The back room deals, frenzied rewriting and political posturing are done.
Now, Rutgers University officials say, it’s their turn to take a long, slow look at the plan to restructure Rutgers, Rowan University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

The complex merger plan, approved Thursday by both houses of the Legislature, is headed to Gov. Chris Christie’s desk for his signature. Then, the Rutgers Board of Governors and Board of Trustees need to sign off on the deal.
