NEWARK — Should part of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey merge with Rutgers University?

The public will get to voice an opinion this week at the first public hearing since a state task force and Gov. Chris Christie endorsed the merger plan last month.

The UMDNJ Advisory Committee — a five-member task force appointed by Christie — will host a hearing from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Essex County Leroy F. Smith Public Safety Building, 60 Nelson Place in Newark.
