The teacher-related bills S2831 and S2832, both sponsored by state Sen. M. Teresa Ruiz (the Senate Education Committee chair) and state Sen. James Beach, recently received New Jersey Senate approval.

S2831 would create a pilot program under which the State Board of Examiners could grant reciprocity to teachers with certain out-of-state certificates. It passed by a 33-0 vote.

S2832 would enable higher-education students with 30 completed credits to work as substitute teachers. It passed by a 29-2 vote.
