Seton Hall University and Hackensack University Hospital will announce plans Thursday to open New Jersey’s first private medical school at the former Hoffmann-La Roche Inc. site in Nutley and Clifton.

The two institutions have signed a memorandum of understanding to form a new four-year school of medicine, according to a news release. Seton Hall plans to integrate its nursing and allied health programs with the new school of medicine and Hackensack University Health Network’s facility. The first class could begin within the next three years.
