AFT New Jersey President Jennifer S. Higgins and AFTNJ higher education affiliate leaders on June 11 engaged with legislators in Trenton during the state federation’s inaugural Higher Education Lobby Day.

After gathering at the New Jersey State AFL-CIO office on West State Street, participants proceeded to the State House complex, where they interacted with legislators before and after their committee meetings.

The focus was on Gov. Mikie Sherrill’s budget cuts to higher education and their impact on institutions as well as students.
