The AFT joined Dr. Jill Biden and others April 19 in Bloomington, Minnesota, for the kickoff of the Educators for Biden-Harris campaign.

“We launched before the Education Minnesota conference started, and the room was filled with hope after Dr. Biden spoke about a sense of renewed commitment to build on the Biden-Harris administration’s work supporting our kids, our schools, our families and our communities,” AFT President Randi Weingarten wrote in an April 20 email.

She added, “We have seen Joe Biden walk the picket line and Jill Biden teach for 30 years in the classroom. They fight for workers to have a better shot and for public schools to be well funded. They have fought against gun violence and for safer schools. They press for policies that lower costs and provide opportunity, like providing over $136.6 billion in targeted student loan relief to more than 3.7 million borrowers, and dedicating nearly $300 billion to manufacturing investments for workforce development and to expand access to STEM and rural education.”
