Imagine building a house without a blueprint or rebuilding a car engine without instructions. Better yet, imagine ordering the largest restructuring of state universities in decades without a road map.
All of these equations spell disaster — exactly what Gov. Chris Christie is inviting by allowing Rowan University to subsume Rutgers-Camden.
As a Rutgers-Camden Law School graduate and a passionate supporter of higher education opportunities, my heart leans toward preserving the independence of Rutgers-Camden. But I have never been one to rule out a proposal based on emotion alone.
My head — the lawyer in me — wants to see the facts presented in a compelling manner before reaching a decision. But after considerable time, simple questions still far outweigh cogent answers.
