CAMDEN — Hundreds of opponents jammed a meeting of the Rutgers University Board of Governors today to protest a takeover of the Rutgers-Camden campus by Rowan University, and shouted down Senate President Stephen Sweeney, who spoke in support of the controversial plan.
For more than two hours, speaker after speaker lambasted the proposal, while the packed audience, dressed in a sea of scarlet, gave standing ovations to fellow opponents but jeered Sweeney, (D-Gloucester), one of the only people to express support.
