Gov. Chris Christie owes New Jersey real answers on his higher education reorganization plan.New Jersey’s higher education chief didn’t illuminate much for the Senate Budget Committee this week. What we got was a game of political dodgeball. But after the hearing with Rochelle Hendricks, two things are clear:
The governor’s claim that he increased direct aid to public colleges and universities is all smoke and mirrors. And as far as the Rutgers-Rowan merger goes, it’s back to the drawing board. With so little information, it’s impossible to judge if this plan even makes sense.
On both counts, Gov. Chris Christie hasn’t given us straight answers. Even the most learned and lettered of college presidents have been left bewildered.
