Three months are left on Governor Christie’s self-imposed deadline to approve Rowan University’s takeover of Rutgers University-Camden, and we still don’t have answers to basic questions.

We don’t know the price tag for the takeover. We don’t know how much of Rutgers’ debt the already highly leveraged Rowan will have to absorb. We don’t know if the Rutgers Law School-Camden — the crown jewel of the takeover — will maintain its accreditation once it becomes Rowan’s law school.

But we now know there’s a strategy to deal with annoying malcontents demanding answers.

The strategy: Simply ignore them.

Fix a glazed look of concern and pretend you really care as cranky alumni or those know-it-all law professors start pointing their fingers in protest. When they talk about salvaging old Rutgers, repeat the prepared, sunny “New Rowan University” sound bite.
