The new report “Beyond Burnout,” a team effort by the AFT and Educators Thriving, contains practical, research-based solutions to address the burnout and stress affecting K-12 teachers and staff.

In her letter that opens “Beyond Burnout,” AFT President Randi Weingarten points out that the report “describes some of the work we undertook to support educators starting in the early days of the pandemic.”

“We gave them a set of research-based strategies to help them deal with stress. … We asked educators what well-being looks like in the context of their profession and daily work,” Weingarten writes. “The early results are described in the pages that follow: an educator-generated measure of well-being that can serve as a barometer of a healthy school climate and form a solid foundation for union-district collaboration.”
