AFTNJ President Donna M. Chiera met Nov. 3 with Stephanie Baxter-Jenkins, AFT’s new Northeast regional director, to provide her with an overview of where things stand with PreK-12 and higher education locals.
In her career, Baxter-Jenkins has worked in the AFT legal and human resources departments. From 2010 to October 2021, she served as the executive director for Hillsborough CTA, a merged local of nearly 20,000 employees in Tampa, Florida.
“It was a pleasure to meet Stephanie, who not only has real-life experience on the ground working with a local, she also has the knowledge, experience and connections with AFT national,” Chiera said. “I look forward to working with her to move our New Jersey agenda forward, and I know in the next few weeks she’ll be reaching out to schedule meet-and-greets with local leaders.”
