Health and safety are legitimate concerns for teachers and students as they return to classrooms for the new academic year, and so are the legalities of who would be responsible should someone become ill with COVID-19.

“Schools are potentially liable for negligence,” said Rutgers law professor Jay Feinman in a story by NJ Advance Media’s Amanda Hoover. “That presents the question of, suppose a student contracts COVID, how do they prove that they contracted it in school? And that the school was negligent in providing safety procedures?”
