New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy on Aug. 19 said that school districts looking to change from in-class instruction to all-remote learning for the start of the academic year “must cite specific health and safety reasons” in their revised plans.

“All districts must meet the same health and safety standards we reiterated for districts last week and in all the guidance that has been released over the past few months,” Murphy said. “And all plans must be reviewed by executive county superintendents, as well as both the Department of Education and the Department of Health.”
