Officials in Kean University’s hometown are pushing for a criminal probe after state investigators found the school flouted the law and its own policies in buying a custom-made conference table in China for $250,000

Kean’s conduct in the matter went beyond simple oversight and negligence and instead was a “flagrant disregard of the law,” wrote Daniel Antonelli, attorney for Union Township in a letter dated Friday.
