GLASSBORO — Rowan University released a report today that offers a glimpse into how its controversial takeover of Rutgers-Camden would take place and what the university would look like after it emerges.

The 19-page report was drafted by Rowan officials without conferring with faculty members and administrators from Rutgers-Camden, who have described the proposal as a “hostile takeover” and who have packed public hearings to oppose the move.

The report has been in the works since a commission headed by former Gov. Tom Kean recommended in December 2010 that Rowan and Rutgers-Camden combine their assets to provide South Jersey with its own research facility and to boost the region’s economy.

In January, Gov. Chris Christie endorsed a similar finding by a second group and has since declared that the two campuses will be merged and subsumed by Rowan, despite vocal opposition.
