UNION — Kean University President Dawood Farahi tonight won a vote of confidence from the school’s governing board, though he was not left unscathed by either his friends or enemies after surviving a months-long effort to oust him.

Amid boos from outraged detractors among the 200 people who crammed into Kean Hall, the governing board voted 7-4, with one abstention, to issue a statement backing Farahi. The president had been accused of misrepresentations on his résumé.
