Under the theme Building Back Stronger, AFTNJ local presidents and members of their leadership teams gathered Aug. 17 in Woodbridge for this year’s leadership conference to expand their knowledge of union-related procedures and actions.

Samuel Lieberman, AFT associate director/legal, gave a presentation about how to interpret and revise a constitution.
David Strom, AFT general counsel, covered the essential steps for conducting an election.
Left to right: AFTNJ social justice committee co-chairs Anthony Balzano and Jason Jordan are joined by Jonathan Rodrigues, AFT senior associate organizer/human rights and community relations department. Since late 2020, Rodrigues has participated in the committee’s virtual meetings and provided guidance to Balzano and Jordan on member recruitment, actions and more.
