In her AFT TEACH keynote speech July 21, AFT President Randi Weingarten unveiled Real Solutions for Kids and Communities, a $5 million yearlong campaign addressing ongoing mental health and achievement crises.
“These are strategies that will address loneliness and learning loss and literacy,” Weingarten said, “and we can and will do everything to spread and sustain them.”
Weingarten also talked about AFT’s new partnership with Reading Universe, which she described as a free online program “for teachers, paraprofessionals and reading coaches to learn more about evidence-based reading instruction.”
Weingarten added, “Reading Universe will offer educators everywhere access to strategies and skills that enable them to help kids to be confident, joyful readers regardless of the curriculum your district or school requires.”
