The AFT has teamed up with the American Library Association and other organizations, among them major publishers, to create Unite Against Book Bans.

The coalition offers an action toolkit online for amplifying and supporting the campaign that has information on contacting elected officials and media, how to create and circulate a petition, social media resources and more.

“Our partners and supporters are critical in moving the needle to ultimately bring an end to book bans,” said Deborah Caldwell-Stone, who is the director of the ALA’s Office for Intellectual Freedom, in a statement. “As the campaign evolves, our growing network of supporters will work to prevent those bans, ensuring access to information for all and advocating for the important work of libraries and librarians.”
