Educators, historians slam 1776 Commission report

A report by The President’s Advisory 1776 Commission, released Jan. 18 by the White House, has been met with criticism from educators and historians.

Among them is New York University professor Thomas Sugrue, who wrote on Twitter, “The biggest tell in the 1776 report is that it lists ‘Progressivism’ along with ‘Slavery’ and ‘Fascism’ in its list of ‘challenges to America’s principles.’ ”
