Actor LeVar Burton, who was the longtime host of the educational TV series “Reading Rainbow,” will serve as host of the 2022 Scripps National Spelling Bee’s semifinals and finals.
“I want to normalize the pursuit of knowledge in this culture,” Burton told The Associated Press. “Not just making stuff up and calling it a fact. Achievement through knowledge, scholarship, putting in the work to gain the reward.”
Scheduled to air on Bounce and ION, the 2022 Scripps National Spelling Bee semifinals and finals will take place June 1 and 2, respectively, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Maryland.
