AFT President Randi Weingarten was a Fox News guest on Aug. 24 and shared her thoughts on the Trump administration adding teachers to the Department of Homeland Security’s list of essential workers.
“Teachers should have been essential from the beginning,” Weingarten said. “The issue is … that even when you are in class and there is a COVID outbreak, if you don’t have symptoms, you are not going to be able to get the leave that you need, so it’s actually going to be a huge disincentive because it feels very coercive.”
