AFTNJ President Donna M. Chiera spoke with NJ Advance Media’s Karin Price Mueller this week for a story about the courses of action teachers could take should personal circumstances make it difficult or risky for them to be in a classroom when schools reopen.
As for union members who cannot teach in person due to medical reasons but lack Americans with Disabilities Act status, Chiera said, “if there is a medical condition and their doctor would say it is unsafe to go into school, that’s our first line of defense.”
