AFTNJ President Donna M. Chiera said, “If it is true that Timothy Hart’s contract as Principal in Edison was not renewed due to his sexual orientation, that is a sad commentary on discrimination against LGBT sisters and brothers. This is a time when leaders in education should be embracing the entire community and setting an example of acceptance. If they cannot comment on the specifics of the Hart case, the Edison board should make a statement signifying its unwavering support for LGBT students, faculty and staff throughout the district.”
