PATERSON — A Bergen County organization took over the city’s Head Start programs this month, after a local group had administered the services to children and families for decades.
Greater Bergen won the job through a competitive grant proposal process worth about $7 million in funding. As operator, Greater Bergen will run three early childhood development centers in Paterson and provide services including education, health, nutrition and social services.
The Hackensack-based anti-poverty group already serves more than 500 families through the Head Start program in Bergen County, and will add about 700 more in Paterson and Prospect Park.
