HIGHLAND PARK — Darcie Cimarusti, a member of the Speak Up Highland Park group, said during Tuesday night’s town hall meeting at Bartle Elementary School that an Occupy the New Jersey Department of Education event probably would occur on Dec. 16, the due date for a district to send a response about a charter school application that will affect the district.

The event, which was confirmed on Wednesday, is a response to the New Jersey Department of Education about the application of Tikun Olam Language Charter High School in lieu of a letter, which organizers think would be ignored. Residents of Edison, New Brunswick and Highland Park want to tell the NJDOE that they want to have a greater voice in the process of charter school application approval.
