Interviews conducted by Gallup in October 2021 with 10,000-plus active female faculty and staff members nationwide show that 28 percent of all participants feel they were passed over for a promotion based on gender.

Broken down by race/ethnicity, 33 percent of Hispanic female faculty and staff say they were passed over due to gender, followed by Asian (30 percent), white (28 percent) and black (24 percent) women in those roles at Title IV degree-granting, two- and four-year colleges and universities.
