New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal is among 18 attorneys general suing to block implementation of a new directive from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) requiring that international student visa holders attending college in the United States take all or most of their classes in-person this fall or risk losing their visa status.

In a statement, Grewal says the ICE directive “puts the lives of all of our students at risk by using international students and the tuition they pay as leverage to force colleges and universities to start in-person classes before they are ready.”

NorthJersey.com’s Monsy Alvarado has more on this lawsuit, which was filed July 13 in Massachusetts.
