New Jersey Senate president Steve Sweeney said he’s “extremely disappointed” that Kean University “handpicked” someone to investigate allegations of racial injustice at the university, rather than former Supreme Court justice John Wallace, as he had advised.

An aide of his, Kevin Drennan, said in a letter that university president Dawood Farahi went back on his word to retain an independent investigator acceptable to Sweeney.
