The Campaign for the Future of Higher Education (CFHE) is a grassroots national campaign to support quality higher education.  CFHE’s mission is to ensure that affordable quality higher education is accessible to all sectors of our society in the coming decades.

AFTNJ leaders, along with many representatives from AFT and AAUP participated in CFHE’s fourth meeting in Sacramento, CA in January. Attending were Adrianne Eaton, President of Rutgers-AAUP; Patrick Nowlan, Executive Director of Rutgers-AAUP; Bill Lipkin, Secretary-Treasurer of United Adjunct Faculty of NJ, Local 2222; and Dave McClure, a Higher Education VP of AFTNJ.

Lipkin moderated and presented at a panel discussion on the values of online teaching and the protection of intellectual property rights. He said the purpose of the panel was to open a future discussion on MOOCs and for profit online instruction and how this would threaten our Higher Education system.

Another major focus of the conference was to propose alternative solutions for the funding of free public higher education, according to Lipkin.
