The people who want to keep Rutgers/Camden as Rutgers instead of combining it with Rowan are turning to the Boss for help. Not South Jersey political boss George Norcross, who is behind the merger. Jersey’s real boss, Bruce Springsteen, Gov. Christie’s favorite singer. They’ve established a video on Facebook with stills while the Boss sings Death To My Hometown in the background.
Meanwhile, Rowan released a 17-page plan for its proposed takeover which said existing course offerings at both schools would stay the same for at least six years.
Rowan said Rutgers/Camden gets $106 million from tuition and state aid but keeps only $55 million. At the main campus, a spokesman said the numbers don’t tell the real story. Joe Cardona, Rowan’s associate vice president for university relations, told Colleen O’Dea of New Jersey Spotlight: “We stand by our claim.”
