The probe into Dawood Farahi’s résumé is over. The Kean University president has taken responsibility for errors that appeared in several early versions of his résumé. Despite the findings, Kean trustees last week voted 7-4, with one abstention, to keep him in office. That has many faculty and students in an uproar. They want Farahi ousted.

But to keep up this fight now will only hurt students and the university. The Kean faculty union pushed for the board probe, and it should abide by the board’s decision. There was no guarantee the board would see the errors as conclusive evidence that Farahi was ill-suited to be president. In fact, the board characterized the decades-old errors as “carelessness.”
