AFTNJ President Donna M. Chiera has issued the following statement on New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy’s proposed tax on all millionaires that is part of his fiscal year 2021 budget:
“With working families across New Jersey struggling to make ends meet, it’s imperative that the economic gap in the Garden State is not widened as a result of the pandemic. Gov. Phil Murphy’s plan to apply the highest marginal tax rate to all millionaires is a great step toward lessening that gap, and we encourage him, Senate President Stephen M. Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Craig J. Coughlin to work together in finalizing a fiscal year 2021 budget that provides the services New Jersey residents need and deserve.”
