College Council President Tim Haresign, a Stockton University Professor, said, “Our state does not support higher education to the extent we should and we have the highest out-migration of students in the country. We have invested in bonding construction of new facilities—which is important—but we are failing to invest in the people to teach, conduct research and work with students in these buildings.”
“The failure to offer and maintain competitive terms of employment is a contributing factor to our inability to compete with other high-technology states in attracting and incubating new job-creating businesses. I am proud to represent more than 10,000 distinguished full-time and adjunct faculty members, dedicated professional staff members who work with students every day and librarians at nine state colleges and universities. Our members deserve a fair contract and we are reaching out to make that message heard across the state.”
