The Newark Teachers Union has recently aligned itself with the American Cancer Society in their fight against cancer. In doing so, they have committed to supporting them in their Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk which is held annually in our city of Newark.

Last year over 9,000 people participated in the walk, honoring those who have battled the disease, remembering those we’ve lost, and hoping for a future with less cancer and more birthdays.

As Newark is the host city of such an important and inspirational walk, The American Cancer Society is proud to announce their partnership with Joseph DelGrosso, NTU President and the Newark Teachers Union this year! We at the Society understand the importance of teachers in their community, and the impact that they have on their students. The Newark Teachers Union demonstrates that through professional dedication and inspiration and solidarity; we can all fight back against this deadly disease.

Please join Joseph DelGrosso and your Newark Teachers Union in the fight against cancer by joining our Making Strides Against Breast Cancer team and walk with us on Sunday, October 16th 2011. The walk will begin at 10:00 am in Military Park between Park Place and Broad Street. The NTU headquarters at 1019 Broad Street will also be open on Sunday for members in honor of the march.
