Montclair State University’s plan to reopen once Gov. Phil Murphy declares that New Jersey has reached Stage 3 of “The Road Back” covers such protocols as class options for students, as well as the cleaning/sanitizing frequency of keyboards and other high-touch surfaces.
In her introduction to the plan, President Susan A. Cole writes that “every single unit” of MSU was involved in some aspect of plan development. Achieving fall 2020 goals will depend on executing the plan, she added, along with “the constructive will of all of the members of the University community to work together” to fulfill responsibilities regarding the education of students and the safety for all.
Dr. Richard Wolfson, Local 1904’s president, emphasizes working together “in a supportive and positive relationship” with the MSU community, but he’s concerned about the absence of data and evidence in some parts of the reopening plan.
In the area of testing and contact tracing, the report is significantly lacking in details, Wolfson says.
“We’re hoping that the university fleshes out those details as openings begin,” he adds.
