My union story: In 2001, there were major changes brewing at the university, and I recognized that the only group on campus that was taking a moral stand in support of academic integrity and on behalf of our students was the faculty union, the KFT. I volunteered to serve in the leadership team and quickly realized that this was the organization through which I could make a real difference in the lives of my colleagues and my students. Our union is about helping colleagues achieve their professional aspirations for themselves and for our students, and therefore acts as the advocate and guardian of quality, affordable higher education for the diverse, first-generation college students that Kean University proudly serves.
Looking ahead: We look to establish a professional labor-management relationship with President Lamont Repollet for the benefit of our members, our university, and our students.
