NEW BRUNSWICK — The union that represents Rutgers University faculty is calling for an investigation of all possible communication between head football coach Kyle Flood and the instructors who teach his players.

The executive committee of the Rutgers AAUP-AFT faculty union on Wednesday approved a resolution that asks for an investigation with a specific focus on possible intimidation or bullying of vulnerable faculty.

“Academic freedom is an essential component of quality higher education, and the freedom for faculty members to assess students’ work without external pressure is an essential component of academic freedom,” the union said in its resolution.
