Rowan University Interim President Ali Houshmand willing to stay on until college resumes presidential search

GLASSBORO — Rowan University Interim President Ali Houshmand said he is willing to remain in his position as long as it takes for the board of trustees to resume and complete a new presidential search.

Last week, the university senate presented a resolution at the board of trustees meeting requesting that the board not begin the tenure of a new president prior to July 1, 2014.

Houshmand said Monday, though he doesn’t know exactly how to interpret the senate’s statement, he understands — from a logistical point of view — that “when dealing with so many important issues, bringing in someone new would be a challenge.”
