A letter signed by more than 300 members of Rutgers faculty warns that a bill to restructure public higher education in New Jersey would “dismember” the university and open the door for political interference and tuition hikes.

A letter warns that a bill to restructure public higher education in New Jersey would “dismember” Rutgers University.
The letter was sent to all members of the legislature, which begins hearings on the bill Thursday.

”The bill…fails to strengthen education. Instead it threatens the integrity and independence of Rutgers, and throws open the door to patronage, cronyism, and corruption,” the letter reads. It was signed by faculty from all three Rutgers campuses.
