New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy said Jan. 6 that the state’s digital divide stands at 8,819 students as of Dec. 30. That’s a 5 percent drop from Dec. 16.

Over the summer, the N.J. Department of Education’s initial digital divide was an estimated 231,000 students.

“It is a stress-heavy school year, and folks are doing heroic work,” Murphy said.
