New Jersey school funding may be cut by as much as $1 billion if no extra assistance is provided by the federal government, Gov. Phil Murphy said July 22 during his coronavirus update.

“We cannot fully support our districts in their plans for the upcoming school year without help from Washington,” Murphy said.

NJ Advance Media writers Samantha Marcus and Adam Clark have a detailed recap of Murphy’s briefing in Trenton and reactions from Ruiz and state Sen. Declan O’Scanlon.
