NEWARK — The tension was thick in the Trenton statehouse on Tuesday as the joint committee on public schools grilled Newark schools superintendent Cami Anderson on issues of policy and personality following months of what lawmakers said were multiple requests for her appearance.

In what was often a heated four-hour exchange, the lawmakers unleashed fierce criticism of the ‘One Newark’ reorganization plan Anderson implemented in September as well as the superintendent’s interaction in the community among other issues.
