NEWARK — A teacher’s aide who was set to be married was one of two men shot and killed around midnight on Wednesday, police and school officials said.

Shaquan Moss and Franky Moore, both 34 of Newark, were found dead on Mercer Street in the city’s Central Ward early Wednesday morning, according to Anthony Ambrose, chief of detectives for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Moss was a one-on-one counselor for a special needs student at Speedway Avenue Elementary School, according to Joseph Del Grosso, the president of the city teacher’s union.
