My union story: I have been teaching in Perth Amboy for more than 30 years and have been a Nationally Board Certified Teacher since 2003. I have served as an AFT building representative for almost 20 years. I have served on the executive council for the past seven years, as I was elected as the vice president for K-4 in Perth Amboy for two terms before I became the district representative.
I was also elected to serve on the negotiations team during our last contract negotiations, where I was also appointed as the lead negotiator.
On July 1, 2020, I took over as the district representative for the Perth Amboy Federation. In May 2021, elections were held for officers, and I was elected to continue as the district representative, where I am currently serving my term. I also serve on the AFT National Progressive Caucus.
