My union story: I became more actively involved with the AFT in an effort to be of greater assistance to other staff members in my district. I like the idea of being able to support others who might need my help. Personally, I feel a level of pride and accomplishment engaging in union activities.

Career highlights/achievements: Attending AFT’s Summer Educator Academy three years in a row was a great experience for me. I learned so much and met many remarkable fellow union members from throughout the country.   was fortunate enough to receive training in Instructional Strategies That Work for All Disciplines, Delivering Effective Professional Development, Managing Behavior in School Communities, and Student Learning Objectives. I was also extremely grateful to have been elected to my local’s executive council as a recording secretary.

Interests/hobbies: I love to travel, and I enjoy painting. I am also very interested in animal rights.

Looking ahead: I wish to remain active in AFT’s local and state activities. I welcome new opportunities for growth.  I would like to continue to learn.
